Deegan Groundwater is a specialist groundwater supply consultancy that was started in 2019 by Carl Deegan B.Sc.(Hons), M.App.Sc., MIAH, MAIG.
Carl has over 28 years of experience in a wide range of hydrogeological projects and has undertaken work for clients in the mining and rural or agricultural sectors, as well as for government water authorities. He has been responsible for many hydrogeological investigations for the evaluation, development and management of groundwater resources for mines, pacific coral island atolls, and potable District Towns water supplies in PNG. Carl's experience also includes groundwater modelling, dewatering investigations, hydraulic testing of aquifers, dewatering management plans, and groundwater management plans.
Carl's fields of expertise include:
- Groundwater resource assessments for potable water supplies in PNG, Australia, and Kiribati;
- Investigating, mapping, developing, and managing freshwater lenses on the largest coral atoll of Kiritimati, Kiribati between 1997 and 2003;
- Development of conceptual hydrogeological models for numerical models;
- Groundwater or numerical modelling;
- Assessment of groundwater inflow rates to tunnels and the potential environmental impacts;
- Dewatering investigations for deep basements and dewatering management plans;
- Design and implementation of groundwater monitoring programs;
- Hydraulic testing of aquifers and test pumping analysis; and
- Borefield design and sustainability assessments.
Carl has project managed groundwater investigations in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Kiribati.
